To Choose A Singing Bowl

Singing bowl is an other help for meditation and relaxation, and is used for healing proposes, you know it just. Did you know that they use to heal not only sound but the vibrations too? I decided to make me a Christmas gift and to buy a singing bowl, so I'm studying the question different days.
This photo is from the site Veet.it and there are other photos to demonstrate how it works. I was really surprized to see them. I never thought this vibration can be used this way.

Now I know: there are not only different notes and frequences used for different chakras. There are different sound grades. There are bowls with very pronounced vibration and those that "sing" 1 -3 minutes and more. There are Healing grade and Master healing grade sounds, 80-100 "points". More points -better is the sound.

What I could not understand is that Healing quality and not healing quality bowls had the same 98 -99 points gradation. Maybe the difference was uin the vibration?

Today I found an interesting and really informative video. As in any case, you have to think about YOUR personal impressions if you decided to buy a singing bowl. If your body wants this sound -you can buy it.

Oh, forgot. The sounds devided by chakras.
Violet B/si
Indigo A/la "third eye"
Azure G/sol
Green F/fa (heart)
Yellow E/mi (solar plexus)
Orange D/re (secret)
Red C/do (base)

The "How-s" of Crystal and Gemstone Healing

Very interesting for me theme is going round some blogs of my friends-bloggers just for some months. It's Crystals and Gemstones Healing. Maybe because I like gemstones, I'm not satisfied else, so I looked around the Internet to see what others say about it.

I found that this theme is typical for Mystics and New Age. Because I know physics a little (about magnetism, vibrations, atomic structures of every physical body and energy prodused by all these movements), I think there have to be good reasons for these treatment. Here are some quotes:

Crystals and some stones pick up, store and amplify thought vibrations

It's important to thoroughly wash your crystal after purchase to remove any impressions that its "picked up" from other people who have handled it. Once "cleansed'', you "programme" it for a particular use. This is done by holding the stone in your hand and projecting thoughts to it. The crystal is said to absorb your telepathic thoughts and will, once programmed, act as an amplifier of your psychic and psychological powers. (Source)

Crystals are sometimes placed on chakras that correspond to the colours of the crystals and their spiritual properties. This is claimed to cleanse and energise the chakras (Source)

You can program your stones and crystals for specific use or just use them for decoration and let them do what they do naturally, which is to dissolve and balance energy. (Source)
Interesting is the advise to create personal crystals altar, practically a box with stones added to your altar, to have your programmed stones always ready to serve you. And here is an interesting article about choosing the cristal you need for your proposals that says :
  1. Clearly identify your purpose
  2. Look for a few crystal varieties that seem to support your goal (in a book, online, from a professional, etc.).
  3. Pick a specific specimen that offers vibrational match to your frequency.
And what I've never heard:
be open to crystal's influence (because we are often too receptive to outside influences -specially of negatively charged persons)
and place your crystal NEAR a small water fountain
This allows the very powerful chi of the water to propagate the vibrational frequency of the crystal throughout your house or office. (from the same article)

Healing chakra chant

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." Buddha

Personally I like Vajrasattva Mantra and Heart Sutta chanting by Dalai Lama. I think that reading sutras helps me in my life. Golden Light Sutra and The Names of 35 Buddhas.

Today I found some very interesting videos about chakra healing with sillables and mantras and wanted to show them to you too.

The first video is interesting not only because you can learn how to chant mantra but you can see how to take mala when you chant, too.

This other video is first from the serie of videos that you will see when open YouTube. Open and read descriptions near the videos.
I don't know, what school is this technique from and will be very great if you will help me.
The video is really made good.

Music and chakras

Very interesting discovery (for me ) today. In one forum where I happend accidentally there was a discussion about chakras and there I found this info: not only colours are bounded to our chakras, but the sounds of musical instruments too. The site page has this great name "Body music" and there I wanted to steel this table

C Octave Next Cycle

B "Si" Crown MM/Silence Violet/White

A "La" Third Eye OM Purple

G "Sol" Throat HAM Blue

F "Fa" Heart YAM Green

E "Mi" Stomach RAM Yellow

D "Re" Gonads VAM Orange

C "Do" Base LAM Red

So pratically they say that we can turn our body as a musical instrument. And the chakras "music" is "Lam Vam Ram Yam Ham Om (mm or silence)"

Think of yourself as a walking flute, with seven light
bulbs on you, making music as you go.

Very romantic, no?
No, I know about connection between chakras and sounds, but in the practices I do, we don't change tone of the sound. We chant A in the same mode as OM ecc. And the sillables are not bounded with the same chakra forever. One practice uses A in the crown chakra, for example, other practice uses OM for the same chakra. I don't know why, I think it's not important for me.

As example you can listen to the teaching of Tenzin Wangial Rinpoche

When I read that information, I thought that it could be interesting to bound sounds with mudras of my previous post.

And another thought from today experience I find interesting (I didn't know about it):
Every chakra has petals (this you can find in every kundalini-manual), every petal has it's Sanskrit letter. If the yogi knows the problem of the body and knows what energies can help, he can create from those letters personalized mantra. Chanting this mantra is possible to resolve the problem using specific sounds.

One more quotation from this site I like very much
We are not humans having spiritual experiences
we are spirit having human experiences
Great thought.

Opening your chakras

I don't want to tell you here initial ideas about chakras. First of all you are expert enough in this theme. I turn back to it because I found a new information that tells us about opening the chakras.

We hear too often these exciting words and begin to "practice" something we've read or hear -clearly to reach in some hours the Enlightenment.

But if we are serious, we can meet obscurations and obstacles when we do something, if our chakras are closed (and they are). In my practice I have this problem too. Yes, I do purifying practices, but in the last time I thought, it's necessary to think more about opening the chakras.

First of all I wanted to tell you an interesting learning story (I don't know what Teaching comes it from). I'm sure, you'll like it.

One young man passed many years to pray. But nothing was happend.
So he decided to go to one very important monk to ask him for advise.
That monk was sitting near his door and when the young man
told him his story, said: "Do you see that sieve there on the earth?
Put me please some water from the river".

Good, when a monk asks you to do something you have to do.
The young man took that sieve fom the mud. It was very dirty.
But the monk wanted it so as it was. Young man went to the river
and turned back without water. "Try once more",- said the monk.
So did he different times but could not bring any water to the monk.

"It's unpossible to bring water with the sieve",-said he finally to the monk.
"You are right. It's unpossible to bring water, but the sieve is now very clean."

So, I try to do often purifying practices, specially when I have to go to a ritrit. Lopon Tenzin Namdak said once "If you put nectar in a dirty vase, you will ruin the holy drink".

All this I tell you because I found a very interesting site with good description of chakras and what is more interesting for me, there are MUDRAS that they use to open these chakras.

I copy here a part of the page of this site with mudras, to have them near my eyes, but to use them you have to go first to the site where you can find very important informations and explanations about these practeses.

Open the Root Chakra
Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch.
Concentrate on the Root chakra at the spot in between the genitals and the anus.
Chant the sound LAM.
Additional techniques to open the Root chakra

Open the Sacral Chakra

Put your hands in your lap, palms up, on top of each other. Left hand underneath, its palm touching the back of the fingers of the right hand. The tips of the thumbs touch gently.
Concentrate on the Sacral chakra at the sacral bone (on the lower back).
Chant the sound VAM.

Open the Navel Chakra

Put your hands before your stomach, slightly below your solar plexus. Let the fingers join at the tops, all pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs. It is important to straighten the fingers.
Concentrate on the Navel chakra located on the spine, a bit above the level of the navel.
Chant the sound RAM.

Open the Heart Chakra

Sit cross-legged. Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch. Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breast bone (so a bit above the solar plexus).
Concentrate on the Heart chakra at the spine, level with the heart.
Chant the sound YAM.

Open the Throat Chakra

Cross your fingers on the inside of your hands, without the thumbs. Let the thumbs touch at the tops, and pull them slightly up.
Concentrate on the Throat chakra at the base of the throat.
Chant the sound HAM.

Open the Third Eye Chakra

Put your hands before the lower part of your breast. The middle fingers are straight and touch at the tops, pointing forward. The other fingers are bended and touch at the upper two phalanges. The thumbs point towards you and touch at the tops.
Concentrate on the Third Eye chakra slightly above the point between the eyebrows.
Chant the sound OM or AUM.

Open the Crown Chakra

Put your hands before your stomach. Let the ring fingers point up, touching at their tops. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right.
Concentrate on the Crown chakra at the top of your head.
Chant the sound NG.
Warning: don't use this meditation for the Crown chakra while you don't have a strong Root chakra (you need a strong foundation first).
